After Ramadan ends I’m going on a binge
Jami: I’m already looking forward to tomorrow. Ramadan’s finishing, and I’m starving. I’m looking forward to going on a binge.
Jožo: Hang on Jami man, you don’t binge.
Jami: I’m going to eat sweets, KFC and drink Pepsi, it’s going to be to well wicked!
Jožo: And that’s what you call religion? Why do you fast when you’re already looking forward to having it behind you? I mean, why do it at all?
Jami: Because it’s the right thing to do.
Jožo: And that means you don’t eat for a month. Is that it?
Jami: You wouldn’t understand.
Jožo: Sorry. I didn’t want to offend you, it’s just that it really is totally strange to me.
Jami: t’s a symbol of penitence. It demonstrates my faith, and that’s important to me.
Jožo: And it’s something you want to do, or something you have to do?
Jami: I want to, and it’s also part of our tradition.
Jožo: That wouldn’t be enough for me.
Jami: It might be enough for you if you lived in a foreign country where you always felt out of place.
Jožo: It still seems strange to me, to go hungry just because of tradition.
