Asylum is granted to person meeting the conditions of the Geneva Convention of1951, which states that, “A refugee is any person who finds themselves outside their own country and has justified fear of persecution for reasons of race, religion or nationality, or because they belong to a certain social group or hold certain political opinions, and who is not able to or refuses to return to their home country for fear of persecution”.
