Suong: It was no big deal. It’s just that, for us, it’s not normal to bring someone food if you’ve been invited to eat with them. It’s like saying you you don’t think they know how to cook. Mum took it badly, but once it was all explained, she just asked me to sort it out with Magda.

Magda: Well, yeah, but I still don’t know what I should do next time! I mean, you can’t just show up somewhere, stuff your face, and not bring anything with you!

Suong: Next time, just thank her. Or invite her to your place. Or bring a present that isn’t food, and give it to her as you’re leaving. There’s always some sort of solution.

Magda: Well, I reckon I’d just balls it up again. One thing’s for sure, next time I’ll have a pep talk with you in advance.
