You really speak Romani at home?
Andrea: Hey, do you really speak Romani at home?
Daniel: Yeah, I speak Romani with grandma, and a kind of mix with my parents. You know what it’s like.
Andrea: Hmm, alright for some. We don’t speak Romani at home at all, it’s a real shame. I only understand Romani a bit. I keep trying to get better at it, though I feel a bit ashamed doing a course in it, when I should know it myself.
Daniel: Do you ever listen to Roma music?
Andrea: Oh yeah, for sure, except I hardly understand a word. I’ve just discovered Gulo čar, they’re really cool. I listen to them all the time, but I only pick up the odd word. It really annoys me, you know?
Daniel: Of course, yeah, I understand.
Andrea: What does “Gulo čar” mean in Romani anyway?
Daniel: Uhh, basically “Sweet Grass”. Did you know that in 2003 Gulo čar got a prize as the Discovery of the Year?
Andrea: I tell you what, it doesn’t surprise me, I mean, they’re something else.
